Above, the photo on the left is our lilac tree, just outside the Cobourg East Campground office and the photo on the right shows just how heavy the ice and snow dragged the branches of the pine trees down to the ground.
A Christmas without electricity and with limited water didn’t dampen our Christmas spirit. Days of tobogganing, boards games, hide & seek by flashlight and reading by head lamp kept everyone busy.
Just as we settled in to wait for Santa to arrive on Christmas Eve, there was a huge boom that sounded like an explosion. Nothing could be found to justify the noise and it became a Christmas Eve mystery that was not to be solved until a few days before the New Year.
Our Christmas dinner was cooked outside on the bbq and was amazing. Everything turned out perfectly. The hydro came back on just as we finished eating dinner. The kids cheered and jumped up to get their new electronics and set them to charge.
So now we look forward to a big clean up. Hopefully Mother Nature is finished making a mess of Cobourg East Campground.
